Studying in Rangjung Yeshe Institute is a special

Image
It’s been few years studying in Rangjung Yeshe Institute as a B.A. Student. When I first joined the institute I did not have much knowledge about Buddhism even though I came from a family with Buddhist background. After joining RYI, for the first time in my life, I felt like I am studying something that might truly benefit me. I realized that here, I am not studying about external, material things but rather something deeper about our own being, the very nature of our own mind. And the reason I think it is beneficial is because studying Buddhism has helped me to deal with emotions which otherwise leads us to suffering. Nevertheless, I also feel very blessed joining RYI since I get an opportunity to study Buddhism more deeply through which my perception towards myself has become clearer and my faith towards triple gems become much stronger than before. Besides studying, I also love food at the RYI restaurant. The staffs at RYI restaurant serves delicious and variety of vegetarian fo...

Lucky to be a student of RYI

Kathmandu is the capital city and the largest city of Nepal with a population of 1.5 million. It is my first time here in Kathmandu, Nepal and what brought me here is my decision to study Buddhist philosophy. I feel very much blessed to be here and especially to be able to study in this holy land. I couldn’t ask for a better condition.   I started my course in Rangjung Yeshe Institute in august last year, 2018. I am very much satisfied with all the classes I take. I will definitely learn a lot and most importantly become a better human being. I am rather taken aback by how well the teachers and the students are here. Being a school of Buddhist studies, I realised how different it is from the other institutes or universities. Anyone I met has been very kind and helpful all this time. Also to mention how simple and calm the environment is at the institute. Everyone respects one another which I really appreciate. Since, the institute is very close to the main Boudha Stupa...

My MA Study at RYI

Image
My MA Study at RYI I first heard about Rangjung Yeshe Institute from my supervisor Prof. Georgios T. Halkias when I was studying in the Master of Buddhist Studies program at the University of Hong Kong. In March 2017, I was very fortunate to have the precious opportunity to go to Kathmandu to attend the teachings of Mingyur Rinpoche and Tsoknyi Rinpoche, and had the chance to visit RYI on the last day during my stay in Kathmandu, which planted a seed in my heart that soon grew into greater interest in studying Tibetan Buddhism as well as a stronger willing to immerse myself in the practice of the teachings of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. I was very lucky to be admitted into the MA in Buddhist Studies program at RYI, which perfectly suits my interest in the study of Indian and Tibetan Buddhist philosophy. RYI provides me with excellent language courses in both Sanskrit and Tibetan, research seminars which constantly give me inspiring new perspectives from many differen...
